". . . I care and I know I am making a difference. . . I love my children, my craft, and the two together. It's pretty magical." - Phoebe Dillard
This quote from a fellow teacher really says it all for me. I feel very lucky to have a career that challenges me and one that I love! I truly enjoy discovering students' youthful passions and unique personalities, then fostering in them a desire to learn and grow.
My undergraduate degree is in English; my Masters in K-6 Education. I taught in the St. Vrain Valley School District (Longmont) for 8 years- four years in Kindergarten, two years in 3rd grade, and two years in 4th grade. After teaching 1st grade for three wonderful years here at Bethke, I'm excited to make a change and once again teach 4th grade!
I love to read, write, and create whenever I can. I love to play music (piano and violin) and listen to music (especially live!). Being out in nature is my place of peace and rejuvenation. I also love to garden, cook, bake, shop, and hang out with my special girls, Chloe (10) and Calla (7)!
My daughters and I live here in my hometown, Fort Collins. Chloe is a 5th grade student at Bethke. Calla is a 2nd grader here, too. This summer we got a puppy- an Airedale Terrier named Colette. She is WILD, and let's just say this summer was not about sleeping in! My extended family all live in Fort Collins. The girls and I enjoy living in Ft. Collins A LOT!
I'm so happy to be at Bethke, teaching amazing children, and partnering with thoughtful, involved parents and a highly-talented and child-centered staff. I can't wait to connect with you and begin another wonderful year!
See you soon ~ Amy
